LGU Iriga and The Department of Agriculture distributed coffee seedlings to Iriga City Farmers in connection with the “Coffee Production Techno Demo” Program of the city.
the Iriga City Agriculture Office (CAO) with the Local Government Unit and Hon. Mayor Ronald Felix Y. Alfelor, thought of sponsoring a coffee tree planting activity as a way of mitigating the effects of climate change and providing an alternative crop that will provide livelihood to farmer/beneficiaries.
This project entailed developing agroforestry plots, each at least 1 hectare of coffee (5,000 plants each) in each of the communities that have appropriate conditions for coffee. The plants will be provided by the Department of Agriculture while technical assistance and supervision will be provided by the Local Government Unit of Iriga.
