The City Government of Iriga, thru Hon. City Mayor Madelaine Y. Alfelor, has been recognized by the National Competitive Council Philippines as the 25th Overall Most Competitive Component City for the 2017 Cities/Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI). Iriga City is among the 112 component cities in the country. The goal of CMCI is to measure all 1,634 cities and municipalities in the country annually and to eventually institutionalize and embed data-gathering and analysis in cities so they could use their own data to plan their futures.
Aside from this, Iriga City is also in the Top 10 Most Improved Component City and the 10th Most Resilient Component City. Rankings of Cities and Municipalities are based on the sum of their scores on 4 Pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure and Resiliency. This year, Resiliency was added as a pillar because this had become increasingly important for cities and municipalities in the age of climate change.
