Packing 225 kph kilometers per hour winds, Typhoon “Nina” has left much devastation and spoiling Christmas celebrations in the Bicol region.
Here in Iriga City, almost all houses and government buildings were damaged. The Central Business District is still flooded and some major roads and thoroughfare blocked by fallen trees and debris. Communication in the area poses a problem as major telecommunications networks suffer cellular service outage due to downed lines and towers. Internet connection also has the same issue. Fortunately, the City has suffered no casualty.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) and the Local Government Unit is currently gathering data and information to assess the damage. This would allow for a better course of action. Relief operations is also being conducted by the Local Government in cooperation with National Agencies.
